Introducing ourselves!

Youth Column:
“Lover Of Our Soul”
(Helping you find solutions & answers for your innermost queries)
August 2007/ Bareilly, U.P.
Hi Folks!

We are Charles & Salome, ministering in a District called “Bareilly”, 250 kilometers East of New Delhi, our national capital and 250 kilometers West from Lucknow, capital of “Uttar Pradesh”.

Charles has grown up in the same place but Salome comes from Delhi. The LORD saved us when we were quite young, filled us with His vision for the lost & troubled, and called us for God’s Kingdom – with a special burden for the youth and the couples (families).

Charles has been serving the LORD now for more than 12 years & we together as a couple for more than 4 years. We have 15 months baby boy, John, we call him “Joe”. We ourselves have been through the various stages & phases of an adolescent1, youth & a family. And have found God helping us through all ups & downs bringing us to the point where we can share a lot of His plans for each individual & family! We are no different than you but something has made our lifestyle & perspective different – the same we want to share with our young friends!

As we celebrate the 60th year of our Nation’s freedom, we want to bring you a word of true freedom- “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”, John 8:32. Below is some truth for you!

Did you know that our God is concerned not only for our spiritual life but for the totality of the human being, i.e. the body, the soul/emotions/mind, & the spirit? (1Thessalonians 5:23)

Do you know that there is not a single issue which Bible does not deal with and not a single question/problem for which Bible does not provide any answer/ solution?

There are several specific issues/problems which the youth & the couples face regularly in their lives and yet they are labeled as “Taboos2” and thus neglected & ignored by the Christian world- including own parents & pastors. Then in that case; Where do you turn to find solutions:-

1. To Family &/ or Friends?
2. To Print &/ or Electronic Media?
3. To be quiet & sit back attitude; i.e. the issues are still bothering you
up as you have embedded3 them yet in your mind & thoughts?

Could you really feel rightly helped with the above measures? Or
The things have become worse & messy, leaving you as the most ‘miserable person’ on the earth?

Dear friend are you one of them? You have been asking yourself: “can I really have my voice heard & my heart finds rest anyway?” You are so much confused & thinking “IT’S BETTER TO DIE”? Please take some time beloved friend & consider as we prayerfully share!

Do you think our heavenly DAD (God) & the Bible hold silence, leaving you hopeless? Is this the Father’s design for you to “die” unnaturally? Is there no answer to your problems/questions?

No friend; the Bible does have a lot to rejuvenate4 your lives, to provide solution to your quests & add sparks to your youth/family – even beyond your imagination!

The Bible does command to provide hope through answers to every question, 1Peter 3:15; and solution to every burden, Matthew 11:28-30. The Bible in fact encourages for healthy counseling and invites to the source of solutions & answers during your young age only so that you don’t go depressed resulting in death- murder &/or suicide, Isaiah 45:21 & Ecclesiastes 12:1.

The LORD having brought us through, have called to minister to young hearts specially. We do not guarantee to satisfy you but assure you to provide you Godly guidance & practical/logical help based on Biblical truths and prayers for you with guaranteed assurance of maintaining confidentiality of the things you share with us (including your name, identity & address). We do respect your sentiments & honor your trust and confidence placed in us. We want to extend you our loving hand of trusted friendship as your loving brother & sister in Christ. Look forward to get familiar with you & hear from you.

Lots of warm love & blessings,

Yours loving,
Charles & Salome Jacob

Few difficult words simplified:
1. Adolescent: between childhood and adulthood.
2. Taboos: words/ issues avoided or prohibited, esp. by social custom
3. Embedded: Hidden
4. Rejuvenate: make young again. Rekindle. Label again or differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Call from a boy, yesterday:
“She said don’t call me again, I don’t love you… we had been in love for about 3yrs now… she is in love with some other guy. If she does not marry me, I would not marry any one else… if she does not love me has she been just fooling me for so long...?”

Some other similar questions: Is my love true? How can I know whether he/she really loves me?

Is it possible to determine if he would continue to love me and would not ditch me in the future…? He asks me to have sex to prove our love….. (We are covering it more detailed in our next issue)

How is love & Valentine’s Day associated to one another?

Love knows no time, people & place bounds – it lasts as long as the breath lasts. “Love is long suffering, kind, all bearing, enduring, and truth loving; without envy, self pride & evil;
& love never fails...” (Bible)

Hi Friends!
Our warm love & prayers are offered for you!

We are not sure how your day had been, yet we would like to invite you to reflect upon it!!
As we are into the youth & family counseling & teaching, we could write tons on it and also because LOVE is a vast subject.
Yet in this issue we would like to leave you just with a small measuring device to know how real your “love” is/has been. Though the love is in the air yet most of the cases we deal are unfortunately sad and tragic when it comes to love!
It is very difficult to say how closely the so called “Valentine’s Day” is associated to love & such celebration. All the stories behind are so murky/ dark and unclear so is hard to say much FOR it. They are all called “tales” not historical facts…
We would love to see that each day of your life becomes a celebration of “true love”. Not just confined to a day or limited period! Want it for one day or each day of your life - decision is completely yours. Though we would like to highlight few reasons behind the same in this issue:
“….Later, during the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of birds' mating season, which added to the idea that the middle of February -- Valentine's Day -- should be a day for romance….” {The History Channel (History.com)}
“…The popular customs associated with Saint Valentine's Day undoubtedly had their origin in a conventional
belief generally received in England and France during the Middle Ages, that on 14 February, i.e. half way through the second month of the year, the birds began to pair. Thus in Chaucer's Parliament of Foules we read:
For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne's day Whan every foul cometh there to choose his mate.
For this reason the day was looked upon as specially
consecrated to lovers and as a proper occasion for writing love letters and sending lovers' tokens...” (The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume XV.)
Now basing it upon the above reasons what do you think, should this celebration be for married couples or for the unmarried too? Should love be for a season or till breath….? To us it sounds just physical & sensual (sexual) nothing of caring love…..! Temporal as long as the gratification/ self satisfaction is achieved! We don’t argue… the views might differ… anyway…. Just go through a small test below….

Love and Lust (untrue love) Test

No. Love Lust (untrue love 1. Is Care & Concern, 1 Peter 5:7; Understanding: God does understand us!

Hi Friends!

Love and warm greetings in Jesus’ loving name!

We praise God that March 26th we could complete 5 years of our blessed married life.

Many of you have been praying for us and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the same & request your continued prayer support for our personal lives & our ministry too.

In the last issue we discussed on love & we left you just with a small measuring device to know how real your “love/love relation” was. Love and Lust (untrue love) Test!

This time we are trying to cover a related topic to love, which we promised to share in this volume. Again we must mention that the views might differ. We express & share what we are convinced of, and feel are logical, ethical, moral & BIBLICAL! We are always willing to help but arguments we avoid.

Kindly feel free to pass the same to as many as you think might be blessed through the same (without editing please). If you are blessed please mention! Your testimonials & suggestions are valuable and inspiration to improve continuously. God bless you!

A Frequently Asked Question

Dear Charles & Salome,
Can you please guide us about this- Is premarital1 sex acceptable? How about SEX before marriage?

In our modern society & among our friends today, it’s common. Can we just go about it, to check our abilities, strength & weaknesses before we are actually wedded?

Love needs proof and Sex proves the strength of our friendship, relationship & love; and reveals the seriousness of one’s commitment to another.

It is easy to WALK OUT of “a living-in-relationship” THAN of “legal wedding bonds”.

Answer: Hello dear friend! We would like to ask you something
before answering you in detail.
How would you feel if (supposedly), you were born before/outside the marriage of your parents; and you get to know this truth openly? Would you be proud of your “unmarried &/or illegitimate2 parents” & appreciate their 'that act of sex'? Would the same society, you speak of, accept you? Why do the unmarried couples throw away their virgin/illegitimate babies? Would you, in such a case, openly declare- “I’m a (so called illegitimate) child of my virgin parents?

No, we are not talking of so called “safe or protected Sex”. We are speaking of the order God has created & set before us- as human beings.

SEX3 is a divine gift, created & given by GOD Himself to us ward. God Himself said, “…It is not good that the man should be alone …” Genesis 2:18; and therefore, God created EVE (a woman) for ADAM (a man). And when GOD said that they two shall be one; HE did not speak of mere physical/ sexual relations alone RATHAR He spoke of emotional, spiritual, social & total bonding in love for which sex given as a gift to BOTH to keep them ONE in love bonding forever; and for procreation4 too.

Their sexual union was given a name of an irreversible5 permanent relationship. Or else there would be no difference between humans & animals.

Many argue, if one is not getting married till the age of 40 or so or even unmarried; shall the same remain virgin till then, forfeiting6 the enjoyment of “God given pleasure”?

If this reasoning is appropriate, logical & acceptable- then just think & answer your own self-

Are they really cheered up & remain happy of such relations? For how long? Do they still carry a relationship which can openly be talked of and could be given a healthy name of relationship?

Does not premarital/ even extra marital sex cause hatred toward the same sexual partners, guilt within the self; resulting into fear, breakage of relations forever, even later impotency7, infertility8, sexually transmitted diseases, emotional disorders, tension, even give rise to murders/ & suicide?

Our answer is: God created man & woman and appointed an appropriate time for their marriage and virginity9 he added to them both to exchange/present as wedding gifts with/to one another; and the act of SEX to enrich their intimacy10 (like to none other), strengthen their bonding (exclusively different).

Sex is a gift from God, also to bless the married couple with kids/babies and thus continuing the maintenance of healthy society on this planet earth. We must mention, during the years of ministry, we have commonly observed that many couples involved in premarital sex have struggled for their baby/ first baby.

Ask yourself- would you like/ have liked to marry a girl or a boy whom you know have been having sexual relations with other boys/ girls?

We don’t know that in the above discussed issues, at what point of life you stand & in what situation your life fits in! Are your steps just making a move for pre marital & or extra marital sex/affair? Or you have already happened to be into it? Are you now suffering through guilt, depression, infertility, barrenness (no baby), feelings of death (murder/suicide)?

It’s yet not too late for you. JESUS loves you anyway and HE is inviting you to Himself; He says, “If confess your sin, He is ready & willing to forgive you & restore you your life & joy”. Come to Him dear friend; repent & live a better, happier & stronger life – you have never ever even imagined of. Get your life rejuvenated11 & add new sparks to your life & family!

Please meet your local pastor or any servant of God whom you think you can trust & ask him/her to pray for you and guide you furthermore.

Lots of warm love & blessings,

Yours loving,
Charles & Salome Jacob

WEIGH YOUR OWN THOUGHTS/VIEWS!

1. (Love needs proof and Sex proves the strength of our friendship, relationship & love; and reveals the seriousness of one’s commitment to another.)
Then how about your relations & love bonds and commitment
- To other friends
- To family & relatives
- To social circle
- To colleagues, etc.

How would you prove your seriousness to them? Do you still think “SEX” is the measure to help you prove yourself?

2. (In our modern society & among our friends today, it’s common. Can we just go about it, to check our abilities before we are actually wedded?)
Can you share your premarital/ extra marital sexual
experiences with your SPOUSE? Would that enrich your life or rob you of your joy of marriage?

3. (It is easy to WALK OUT of “a living-in-relationship” THAN of “legal wedding bonds”.)
Living-in-Relation versus Marriage:-

What’s more comfortable: to see them getting married who bore you?
OR
To know you were born to a loving couple who were wedded before you were born?

Ask yourself, “how & what would you label these relationships/lives”- who lived with all their so called liberty?

Late Nafisa Joseph (a well renowned model), who committed suicide at 28; who was about to marry an already married man!
Late Kuldeep Randhawa (a model/actress), who too committed suicide at about 28; who was already into a Living-in-Relationship!

Few difficult words simplified:
1. Premarital: existing or occurring before marriage.
2. Illegitimate: unlawful; improper; wrongly inferred.
3. Sex: sexual instincts, desires, etc., or their manifestation; sexual intercourse.
4. Procreation: produce (offspring/child) naturally; [Latin: related to *create].
5. Irreversible: not reversible or alterable; that cannot be changed back.
6. Forfeiting: thing lost or surrendered as a penalty; lose the right to.
7. Impotency: powerlessness; ineffectiveness; inability to satisfy/get satisfied.
8. Infertility: not fertile; unable to have offspring; inability to reproduce.
9. Virginity: state of person who has never had sexual intercourse.
10. Intimacy: close acquaintance; familiar (close friend); private and personal;
(usu. foll. by with) having sexual relations; having thorough knowledge of.
11. Rejuvenate: make young again. Rekindle. Label again or differently.
12. Versus: against (esp. in law and sport).
